Despite its pocket-sized format, the Spotme conference navigator provides all the information and data that are relevant during an event.
It allows elections and votes in the plenary sessions while promoting networking among participants.
At the recent Swiss Marketing Day, the Spotme device from Dr. W.A. Günther Media Rent AG was fully integrated into the conference programme.
The Swiss Marketing Day 2005, in conjunction with the Marketing Trophy Award, was organised as a convention for the very first time. On 2nd February, Federal Councillor, Joseph Deiss and internationally recognised specialists from both Switzerland and abroad spoke at the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre (KKL) on the subject of “Measurability in Marketing – Illusion or Reality?” Even before Otto Ineichen, Deputy to the National Council and President of Swiss Marketing SMC, opened the event, some 640 marketing and communications professionals seized the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Spotme conference navigator.
The initial point of interest was the list of participants that was regularly updated with photos of the guests as they checked in. Next, the challenge was to locate selected friends and colleagues among the numerous attendees. The Spot function makes this operation easy because the Spotme begins to vibrate when it approaches the target individual. If that person was situated within selected ranges, he or she could be “identified” by the Spotme radar function. This turned out to be the most popular function for those who were looking for potential discussion partners.
Daniel Fohrer from the Swiss TV chain SF DRS proved to be a charming convention presenter who hosted the presentations. He was also at hand to provide hints on the voting function of the Spotme when it was time to select the audience favourites in four different categories from no less than 14 nominations. Video clips presented the best concepts and market performances of the nominated companies and NPOs. Everyone in the auditorium could support their favourites, after which the Spotme automatically computed the results. Attendees could also take part in a draw for air tickets. Winners were selected at random and then notified about the good news on their Spotme device.
In the forum discussion, the team of experts, chaired by Katharina Deuber, presenter from CashTV, again got to grips with the subject of “Measurability”. Using the Spotme to conduct two audience surveys, she provided immediate proof of the device’s viability. As its functions were fully integrated into the programme, the Spotme provided useful information about the speakers and their presentations, also displaying the convention agenda. Equally welcome was the opportunity to arrange meetings or appointments on the spot, and to exchange electronic “business cards” in a flash, which were then transmitted by email following the event.
